Mother Fool’s Coffee House – Madison, WI

Mother Fool’s Coffee House was an unexpected surprise. We had made other plans for the morning, and when they fell through we found ourselves searching for somewhere to go. I am really happy we found Mother Fool’s. Once I saw they had a 100% vegan bakery, I was hooked and wanted to go!

It was easy to find and there was plenty of free street parking available. The atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming. I liked the vibe I got from the place. We made a beeline for the bakery case. The barista was very friendly and helpful with drink and food suggestions. The case had some many options: cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, Danishes, breads, and cake. It was a fantastic selection, and everything was reasonably priced.

It was tough to decide between the brownie and the cinnamon roll, but eventually we settled on splitting a cinnamon roll.

The cupcakes were very tempting as we were paying for our food and drink. Laura had a coffee. I ordered a chai with vanilla soy milk. They had a nice selection of extra spices to put on top, so I added cinnamon and cardamom on top. Yum!

The cinnamon roll was very good. The flavor of the cinnamon and the butter was balanced perfectly. The texture was also just right, not too firm and not too soft. It was a good choice, and were both satiated enough to begin exploring Madison with earnest.

Mother Fool’s has been open since 1994. I like that one of their missions is to show people they can have wonderful treats without using animal products. This really resonates with me as it is one of the reasons this website exists.

If you are in the area, check out Mother Fool’s Coffee House. They also have a small food and candy selection. There is also a stage and they host regular events. Check out their website for more information. I will be back for the bakery case for sure.
