Happy 3rd Birthday Gorkha Palace

Aaloo Saag - Gorkha Palace 3rd Birthday

Gorkha Palace is celebrating their third anniversary from 9/16 to 9/22. It’s hard to believe they’ve only been open for three years. We go so often it feels like much longer. Gorkha is celebrating with a completely new menu just for this week only and 15% off the entire meal.

My favorite two dishes are Channa Saag and Hariyo Saag (chickpea curry and leafy green sauté respectively), but neither was on the anniversary menu. Instead, they made a delicious Aaloo Saag. The owner promised me I’d love it or my next order of channa saag was free. She’s smart. I did enjoy it as it was nearly a combination of my two favorites.

Aaloo Saag is potatoes and greens, in this case mustard greens, sautéed with tomatoes and onions in what tasted like a light curry sauce. It went well with the basmati rice and garlic roti. Tasty!

  1. Sounds tasty. I love Indian food.

Thought of you two yesterday when we were in Portland for VegFest. Started out at Back to Eden Bakery with Chai lattes and pastries and then went to VegFest, then stopped at Petunias for their last two Boston cream pie donuts (which we saved from breakfast this morning). I found out from their booth at VegFest they too are 100% vegan and gluten free.

We rounded out the day with dinner at Native Foods on the way home - man I ate too much.

    1. Me too. So delicious.

Funny, we were thinking of you guys while eating at Bravo.

Your day sounds VERY tasty... I would have loved to join you on your quest to eat PDX! It sounds a lot like what we did in May: eat-walk-eat-train-eat-walk-eat-bus-eat-sleep-repeat. ;) Did you double-fist a latte and icecream?? lol.

    2. We didn't double fist the latte and ice cream, but thought of it. If we hadn't have been anticipating eating our way through VegFest we might have. We did bring treats home though.
