Hot Indian Food Truck

Hot Indian Food Truck

A couple weeks ago, I went with some coworkers on their regular food truck pilgrimage. They had made mention of some vegan food, so of course I had to investigate.

Hot Indian Food Truck

Hot Indian was the name of this food truck. It promised a blend of Indian and Mexican. I am in. I love mixing those two in my own kitchen as well. I ordered the special which was called “The Thin Moustache”, vegan version of course, which includes a indurrito, indi frites, and a drink. The staff were fun and upbeat even giving high-fives for completing a frequent diner card.

The indurrito is an Indian burrito which essentially curry wrapped in a tortilla. I had the vegan aloo gobi. They also had lamb, spinach paneer, and chicken.  Normally, I am not a fan of gobi (cauliflower), but there wasn’t a huge amount to distract me. What did distract me in the burrito was the small chunks of apple. The sweetness combined with the spicy savory is not one of my favorite combos. It was easy to remedy though, by eating the sweet side of the burrito and then the savory.

The indi frites really stole the show for me though. Fries covered in an Indian inspired mix. Very tasty! Skip the aioli and they are vegan as well. The total came to $13. They offered a $1 off for “Bollywood dance moves”, but I didn’t see any takers.

I will be looking for them again, I want more of those fries!

  1. Those fries sound really good. I wouldn't have thought to put curry in a tortilla.

No food trucks here. City of Corvallis is like an anti-food truck zone for some reason. People have tried but the city rules against them.

  2. Spinach paneer is really very nutritious and quite common dish in India.
