Dinner at On’s Kitchen

Praram loang soang

Tonight, I had a great dinner with a bunch of vegans from a local meetup at On’s Kitchen. I had never been to this restaurant before, so I was unsure what to get. The meetup host suggested #49: Khao Mun Gai which is meat (tofu/mock duck) server with ginger and garlic sauce. She let me sample some. It was quite good with a nice strong ginger flavor, but I was in the mood for some veggies.

The server suggested his favorite, #76: Praram loang soang. It is mixed veggies with a spicy peanut sauce on rice. The veggies included carrots, bell peppers, celery, bean sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, and cilantro. Yum! I really enjoyed it and would get it again. It is possible to get it with tofu or mock duck, but just the veggies worked for me.

The picture above doesn’t do it justice. The restaurant was dark, so my camera had a hard time taking a decent photo. The plate was very beautiful with a large pile of veggies in a savory peanut sauce. There was so much sauce I ended up just dumping my plate of rice into it. It was delicious and relatively cheap at $9. I would get it again.

It would have been nice if the vegan options were labeled on the menu. The server was helpful and knowledgeable which made ordering easier for our group.

Tasty food and good conversation with interesting people made it a fun night.

  1. It does look pretty tasty. A lot of sauce, but at least it was a good sauce.

  2. On's was on my short-list, and now with those insights it's higher up the list.
