Vegan Road Trip: The Raw Deal–Menomonie, WI

We narrowly escaped the twin cities during rush hour traffic to head East into Wisconsin. About an hour east is Menomonie, WI. About a mile south of I94 is Raw Deal. They have raw organic vegan food available. They offer smoothies, desserts, entrees, beer, wine, juices, and coffee.

Laura and I were excited to see what they had available in the display case. The options change, so they don’t have a menu to choose from. I wanted something savory and Laura was interested in something sweet.

At the recommendation of the barista, I ordered the spinach quiche. She promised lots of spinach and cilantro flavor. Yum! The crust was made from flax seeds. It also tasted like some weak onions or scallions were added. Garnished with carrots and some cabbage. I liked it and would order it again.

The turtle cheesecake was still great. I had it the first time I came a few months back. We both enjoyed it. A nice crust and thick creamy layers of different mouse. We are guessing it is nut based since it is raw. We both enjoyed it. I was left with the task of licking the plate. Yup, that happened.

While we were leaving they were setting up for a live music show. They seem to have something going on regularly and a great space for it.

While the food is all vegan and raw, the drinks are not. Laura ordered coffee and they tried to offer her cows milk. On the beer menu, they had a milk stout.

Since they are also a microbrewery, Laura bought a 32oz growler of their Raw Rye. We continued our journey east on our vegan road trip. We caught a beautiful sunset heading east on I94. If you are in the area, check out The Raw Deal. I’ve enjoyed the food twice now.
