Last Week In Tastiness

The above dish is from Seward Café. It’s their Seward Torta. My friends have raved about it, but I hadn’t had it until this last week. I usually get the radical roots stir-fry. I decided to try the sandwich this week. It is as good as they say. I’m not sure if it was good enough to bump the stir-fry out of my favorite slot. It did hit the spot in a delicious way.

Freshii is a chain restaurant mainly in malls and shopping areas. They specialize in fresh juice and smoothies. They had some food as well. I had a modified mighty detox juice with pineapple, ginger, apple, celery, and spinach. Even though the celery was a bit heavy, I found it refreshing. After trying my friend’s drink, I might have preferred their lime drink instead.

Caribbean Curry with vegetables, tofu, and red beans and rice made at Marla’s Caribbean. A small, local place importing flavors from Trinidad. It was my first visit, and I really enjoyed it. I went with a large group of vegans, and Marla made us a special dessert with raisins in a flakey pastry crust (below). I would go again.

Black Bean Groundnut Stew. This is one of my favorites and a favorite of my friends. I make it pretty regularly. A friend was helping me with a project at home, so I made her dinner to say thanks. I like feeding those who help me. I also made some bread and enjoyed it with an Angry Orchard hard apple ginger cider. The apple ginger is one of my favorites.

  2. Yumm. That Caribbean Curry looks awesome.

The Apple Ginger Angry Orchard is a favorite of ours. Their cinnamon one during the holidays isn't too bad, but not as good as the ginger.
