Today, was ARC’s 2nd annual vegan hot dish cook-off. The event was well attended with what looked like close to 100 people. There were over 15 people competing in three different areas: official judges, number of tickets, and people’s choice. Each hot dish cost one ticket to try. A ticket cost $1 and the proceeds went to ARC.
The servings were fair at about 1/3 a cup. I initially bought five tickets, and then bought two more. After seven servings I was stuffed, but I hadn’t tasted the winner yet, so I got another ticket and had some more.
Pictured above is my favorite hot dish of the event. It was a chana dal with coconut and fresh lime. It was so good, I had it twice.
The above is a pizza inspired hot dish. It won people’s choice. It was good with a nice balance of noodle, cheese, and meat. It was my third favorite.
This is the winning hot dish. I didn’t have it before it was announced as I was too full, but I made an effort to try it afterwards. It was good. A tie for second for me. It tasted exactly like a great chicken pot pie. I could eat some more right now.
The winner was nice enough to share her recipe, and it is in the below photo.
I had a good time eating great food with fun people. I am looking forward to the event next year.
