What 200 Calories Looks Like

I really like this short video as it shows what 200 calories of food looks like. It is based on a great post with lots of pictures here on wiseGEEK.

Since we can only consume a limited amount of calories a day, it makes sense to spend them wisely by eating the most nutrient dense food possible: plants.

  1. Sure is a difference between the fatty foods and veggies.

We can eat so much more of the good things (fruits and veggies) for 200 calories. It's almost like nature knows.

  2. There is an error in the video. The calorie he defines is not the same as a nutritional calorie which is 1000 times larger. Nutritionists and food labels use what a chemist would call a kcal. Cal = kcal equals the energy to raise i kg of water one degree Celsius.

But the quantity difference is amazing. Thanks for the reminder....
